7 Things About Me....In Case You Care!

Thanks Matt for tagging me.....Hope I do this right. I'm not that great at these things!

The Rules:

1. Link to the person that tagged you, and post the rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 random and/or weird facts about yourself.
3. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post, and include links to their blogs.
4. Let each person know that they've been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Fact 1- I am adopted. It was an inside the family one. I tell people I've been adopted twice--once by my family and once by God!

Fact 2- My brother, Chris, was born on Christmas Day. He is 3 years younger than me. I kind of know how Mac Powell of Third Day feels! Chris would always get upset when everybody else would get presents on "his" birthday.

Fact 3- I have been an Atlanta Braves fan since I was 10 years old. Dale Murphy was my favorite player (old school). Jeff Francouer is the new fave. Used to go to our neighbors house to watch the games. There was one year that I saw or listened to every single game (before the days of Direct TV and XM Radio, etc.)

Fact 4- My greatest thrill in high school was meeting former Georgia head coach Vince Dooley. He was at our high school recruiting our top seniors and I was the sports editor for the school newspaper.

Fact 5- I lost a free 7-day cruise during a Bingo game on a cruise our family took a few years ago. Me and and an old guy got a Bingo and to decide a winner they drew one ball out. Whoever came closest won. The other guy won. All the staff came to me later and said they were pulling for me as the guy said it was his 4th cruise so far that year!

Fact 6- Got to meet my all time (and now retired) favorite NFL player, John Lynch, during the SuperBowl festivities the last time the Super Bowl was in Tampa, FL. All I remember is touching his arm and thinking "Man, does he have big muscles!". One of the hardest hitters and also one of the classiest and most charitable guys in the NFL.

Fact 7- I seem to like Christian music groups that have numbers in their names. As a kid I loved 2nd Chapter of Acts (did "Roar of Love" album about Narnia), then 4 HIM (their song "Where There Is Faith" was the first song I ever heard on Christian radio) and now Third Day (if you don't have their latest "Revelation" --get it!).

Third Day Rocks The Sunshine State (and I live to tell about it!)

I did something this weekend I've always wanted to do since I became a fan of Third Day. I saw two shows in a row. I've always thought it was cool and crazy to see the lengths and great distances that get traveled all for the love of these great guys! When I bought the tickets initially my first thought was "What have I done? You have to work on Monday and your Ocala show is a 2 1/2 hours drive back. Are you crazy?". For those answering "Yes" to that question, you know me TOO well. It was a great decision and one I will never hesistate to do again.

Both churches were very easy to find and both were just HUGE. Thanks to WIRED we had great seats for both shows--Row 3 in Brandon and Row 2 in Ocala. I just love watching Mark Lee play so of course I had be on his side. It's like if you sit the same place in church on Sunday. If you move somewhere else it just feels weird! I laughed when the security people nicely reminded us it would be very loud where we were seated. That's why I sit here dude!

Revive and Need to Breathe were their usual fantastic selves. I LOVED the totally unplugged sound of "Streets of Gold". That got a standing "O" and the lady behind me was crying! Third Day is always one of those "you had me at hello" kind of bands. I know that the band tries to judge what kind of crowd they are going to have right from the opening song. In Brandon, Mark was doing the solo part on "This Is Who I Am" up on a speaker. At the end he kind of looks out with that rockstar face and points but the crowd really didn't go quite crazy enough I guess and he just turned and gave the strangest look like "OK. This might be a rough crowd.". I saw that look and I was like "Oh no! Not the look I wanted to see from him. Come on people, I can't do all the screaming here!" But everybody came alive and it was a great show. But no two shows go exactly the same and in my opinion Ocala was way better! Why? Because they did "Creed"!!!! I don't think I've ever been to a show that I have NOT heard that song and that is why it is my all-time favorite (I know it's not EVEN a Third Day song). Through the different tours its been switched from beginning to the end and in the middle but NEVER taken out (for the shows that I've been to). I am so glad I got to hear it once.

It was a funny thing to see Mac leave the stage after "Thief" to get ready for the acoustic set. I was just thinking "Oh poor Mac! He's missing the Alabama game (it started at 8 PM) and just HAS to go check the score!". Then you just hear his voice start "Love Song" but you have no idea where it's coming from until the spotlight shines on him. THAT is a top ten Third Day moment right there! Even though being in the front is cool the acoustic set is by the sound board (and I believe new Gomer hangout) and you can't really see but its not as if we don't know what they all look like. It is a very nice thing for folks in balconies and in the back to be that close. BTW, it's fun to tell someone going to their first Third Day show that it wouldn't be a 'true' Third Day show if Mac didn't forget the words to a song. Yep, it happened in Brandon! Perfect in Ocala.

We didn't get to do any of the meet and greets but actually could have done both. Vickie changed her mind and said if I wanted to go I could (see earlier Posterous post about this dillemma) but I stuck with my heart and said no. We were one person away from Mike (the WIRED guy) in line and I said no. Just didn't feel right for some reason. I really just wanted these shows to be about my friends that I was with. But she did concede she would go with me the next time no matter what if the show is this close again! Jessica on the other hand in Ocala got her husband the three CD pack and wanted them signed! She didn't care how late we got home. So when my WIRED membership is up in December I will renew as a family membership so whomever comes with me can go to a meet and greet. Jessica is a Gomer for life now I think!

I was thinking of so many of you while I was at the shows. Thought of @emsy and @mark_UK) when Nigel came out, @onajourney who was enjoying Decemberadio, @matthamil who could have given me a Gator score, @kellygirl27 to keep me updated on the Bucs, @JanetRN during Need to Breathe, @silly4HIM and @GoobahGary as I was FREEZING outside the church waiting to get in (it was 45!), @gatorlisa as she was traveling to New Zealand, @silverose and @gods_geek (the "stalkers"), @rhonda_ and her super Thespian, those crazy Okie girls that I swear do this for a living and always @Corrine_MamaG still wishing she would buy the empty lot next to me! But, ALAS (as @marklee3D says) I am not very good with Twitter on my phone so I was "out of the loop" for two days. Did I miss it! Yes. Was I missed? Who knows! So I am very much looking forward to the spring tour and where it will lead me this time. All I know is I will think this thought: Can Third Day get any better than last time? And the answer will never change:  Yesly, they can!!

Dilemma Over Meet and Greet

As most who will read this know, I am going to see Third Day twice this weekend here in Florida. I am a WIRED member so I love the chance to get to see the guys at the meet and greets. My problem is this. I have meet them twice already this year. My best friend, Vickie, whom I love dearly, is not a "psycho" fan like me and has no desire to meet Third Day what so ever. Loves their music but that is where it stops. Doesn't understand being a Gomer, all the Twitter, FB, MS, etc. stuff that we all engage in. She loves me and understands why I like to do meet and greets but hates the fact that they are after a show. Since they end so late (for her at least) she doesn't like the fact that we get home so late. She "let" me do my first M&G in Orlando in February because it was my first time and I was super excited plus the fact that it was the first show without Brad. My second one was an unexpected M&G at Rock The Universe in September. Third Day doesn't normally do them at RTU type shows but felt bad since the West Palm Beach MBT show was cancelled. That one was before the show so she said it was OK.

So my dillemma is this....I hate being selfish just because its a big night with David's birthday and all going on. I'm sure it will be fun but it won't be the end of the world for me. Just another show. Can't do Sunday in Ocala because that is a 2 1/2 drive back and that will kill me for sure. Jessica, my co-workers daughter that is going to that one has school the next day and I have work. I know Vickie will say do it if I want to and just wait for me but is that being selfish and unfair? I didn't put in for a pass because of this but I think you can just go to the WIRED table and get put on the list when you get there tonight. So let me know your thoughts.....I think I know the answer but justed wanted a "little help from my friends".

Carmen of the JOY FM's blog about the United Tour

I don't like to steal other people's material for my own blogging purposes, but Carmen hit the nail on the head with her review of the United Tour with Michael W. Smith and Steven Curtis Chapman in Clearwater, FL on Friday night and I thought I would share it with you!

Third Day On The 3rd Day of November/Operation Christmas Child

I've already started packing my shoeboxes!

It's that time of year again when we start to get our goodies ready for my favorite Christmas time tradition:  Operation Christmas Child!!  For those of you that aren't familiar with this, Operation Christmas Child is a project run by Samaritan's Purse  under the leadership of Franklin Graham, son of Billy Graham. It sends shoe boxes filled with goodies to underprivileged kids around the world who would not normally have anything for Christmas. They include the Good News of Jesus with every box, too!

Our church  and small groups have done this project for years and it is so much fun. In our small groups we would actually have fights over who gets what goodies for their boxes. We have come to blows over a little Etch-A-Sketch! And my favorite part is that Third Day is a proud supporter of this most worthy cause. Click here for a video they did for it last year. I watch it throughout the year just to give me a good laugh (note Brad and David's exchange at around the 1:17 mark).

I encourage you to get involved in doing this. National Collection Week is November 17-24. Check with your local church or visit Samaritan's Purse for more information. Happy Holidays!
